This October marks 50 years since the Magic Kingdom opened it’s gates! I am so excited for all of the 50th anniversary celebrations that are to come! Disney has been slowly releasing details about the celebration so let’s dive into what we know so far!

When is the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration?
The anniversary celebration begins on October 1, 2021 and will be an 18 month long event. That means we’ll get a year and a half of 50th anniversary FUN! I think it’s great that they’re celebrating for an extended period because it will allow more people to experience the special offerings.
Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration Details
Disney is officially calling this 50th anniversary celebration “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” -and they’ve even coined a new term to describe it: “EARidescence” — love the play on words there!
We can expect to see new decorations throughout the park that will shimmer and sparkle all day and into the night!
Cinderella Castle will be the star of the show and will receive an additional makeover to the painting she received last year. Golden buntings and a 50th anniversary crest will decorate the castle for the celebration. How cool is this artist rendering?!

At night we’ll get extra magic on the castle and the other 3 park icons as they transform into what Disney is calling “Beacons of Magic.”

These Beacons of Magic appear to be nighttime light and projection shows. I love when the parks offer some version of a nighttime show.
One detail to note is the special EPCOT lighting will continue beyond the 18 month celebration.
And we’ll also see our favorite mice Mickey and Minnie in their new anniversary outfits! I can’t wait for this!

Not going to lie, I was getting a little bored of the 90th birthday outfits they’re been rocking for a few years now! It’s fun to see them in new outfits.
