Walt Disney World is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world.
With its four theme parks, two water parks, and numerous other attractions, it’s no wonder that millions of visitors flock to Disney World every year.
One of the many things that Disney World is known for is its excellent transportation system, which allows guests to travel between the different parks, hotels, and attractions with ease.
In this blog post, we will explore the different transportation options available for guests at Walt Disney World.
Buses
The most common mode of transportation at Walt Disney World is the bus system.
There are more than 300 buses in operation, which run on a continuous loop throughout the resort, connecting all of the parks, hotels, and other attractions.
Buses typically run every 20 minutes and are wheelchair/ ECV accessible.
Guests can access the bus system from any of the Disney World resorts, as well as Disney Springs.
Buses typically start running about one hour prior to park opening time.
Strollers DO need to be folded on the buses.
Monorail
The Walt Disney World Monorail System is one of my personal favorite modes of transportation at Walt Disney World.
I love the convenience of traveling to the Magic Kingdom on the monorail line when staying at one of the three resorts that utilize this mode of transportation: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Besides the Resort Monorail Line, there are two other Monorail Lines available to Walt Disney World guests. The Express Monorail Line that runs directly from the Transportation Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom park gates. As well as the EPCOT line which runs from the Transportation Ticket Center to the EPCOT park gates.
The monorail is not only a great way to get around the resort, but it’s also a popular attraction in and of itself.
Guests can catch the monorail from the Transportation Ticket Center, the Magic Kingdom, or EPCOT.
Strollers DO NOT need to be folded on the Monorail.
Disney Skyliner
The Disney Skyliner is a relatively new mode of transportation at Walt Disney World.
It’s a gondola system that connects Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT to four different Disney World resorts, including Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
The Skyliner provides guests with stunning views of the resort and is a super fun way to get to and from your resort hotel to either EPCOT or Hollywood Studios.
Remember, the Skyliner drops you at the back entrance of EPCOT, the International Gateway. If you use the Skyliner to travel to EPCOT, you’ll enter the park inside of the World Showcase.
Strollers DO NOT need to be folded on the Skyliner (as long as they fit).
Watercraft
Disney World has a variety of watercraft that guests can use to travel between different parts of the resort.
There are boats that run between the Magic Kingdom and Resorts on the Seven Seas Lagoon and boats that run between EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and the Boardwalk Resort area.
Boats also run between Disney Springs and Old Key West, Saratoga Springs and both Port Orleans resorts.
Additionally, you can choose to travel from the Transportation Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom via a Ferry Boat instead of the Monorail.
Strollers MAY need to be folded on the boats — smaller boats require you to fold strollers while larger boats do not.
Minnie Van
The Minnie Van service is a unique transportation option that is available to guests on Walt Disney World property,
It’s a private ride-share service similar to a typical Uber or Lyft ride. The Minnie Vans, however, are driven by Disney World cast members and are decorated with a fun Minnie Mouse design.
Minnie Vans are available through the Lyft app and while this service comes at an additional charge, it’s the most convenient of all. It is a great option if you’re very tight on time.
All Minnie Vans also offer car seats if that is something you require.
Strollers DO need to be folded in Minnie Vans.
Walt Disney World provides guests with a variety of transportation options that allow them to explore the resort quickly and efficiently.
Whether you’re traveling by bus, Monorail, Skyliner, watercraft, or Minnie Van, you’re sure to have a magical and memorable experience at Walt Disney World.
