Before our daughter was even born, I knew that if we were having a little girl, she would have an Alice in Wonderland first birthday party!
I’ve been a Disney lover all of my life and Alice in Wonderland has always been a favorite of mine!
Her party was so much fun for me to put together.
Alice in Wonderland is whimsical and colorful and perfect for a first birthday party theme!
Let’s take a look at all the details of her first birthday party!
I focused the majority of the decorations in the eat-in-kitchen area of our home.
I hung tons of paper lanterns from the ceiling with fishing line and created a feature wall with faux grass backdrop, paper fans, a DIY directional sign, a large number 1 piñata, and garden flamingos.

I showcased the desserts on our floating buffet underneath the feature wall.
All of the teacups on the buffet and table were thrift store finds that I spray painted in lots of different bright colors.
These were affordable and super easy to DIY and made for the perfect accessory to the Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter tea party theme!
I made the playing card Rice Krispie treats! They were insanely easy and everyone loved them.
You’ll need:
- Rice Krispies (make your own or store bought)
- cake pop sticks
- cellophane bags
- ribbon
- white candy melts
- red heart sprinkles
The cake was absolutely a work of art and definitely stole the show on the dessert bar.
The White Rabbit himself looking quite dapper!
In the living room, I hung silver Happy Birthday balloon letters and more pink paper honeycomb garlands.
I covered the main food table with a rose gold sparkle tablecloth and layered gold chargers and white plates along with teacups and cake stands to showcase all of the goodies!
We served brunch style food with sandwiches, bagels, donuts, petit fours, scones, cake pops, cupcakes and cookies.
We also served fruit juices, coffee, tea, and a mimosa bar.
The cupcakes were grocery store bought and I added the cupcake toppers I purchased to jazz them up a bit.
I had the grocery store bakery add “Eat Me” to the petit fours for the perfect, whimsical Alice in Wonderland first birthday party touch.
The cake pops were homemade and I again bagged them in cellophane and finished with a ribbon so that guests could take them home!
Our tea party wouldn’t have been complete without some “painted” red roses on the table!
I created a backdrop for the present table with large playing cards and cardstock that I cut with my Cricut machine. The Queen of Hearts would be proud!
Our party favors were Alice in Wonderland Little Golden Books tied up with a bow.
Outside we decorated our walkway with large playing card men and added large cards around the front door too.
I also made an adorable wreath with painted red roses (wish I had taken a better picture!).
Our Daughter wore a tulle tutu for her cake smash! I wanted her highchair decorations to coordinate with the smash cake!
The cake was modeled after the cake in Alice in Wonderland! The baker did an amazing job replicating it exactly!
This was most definitely an Alice in Wonderland first birthday to remember! All of the details came together beautifully!
My daughter’s Alice dress was a bit pricey (I planned to keep it forever) but I did find a much more affordable version available right here!
My daughter is 6 now (where has the time gone?!) and wore the more affordable version over and over again when playing dress up.
She even wore it to Disneyland a few years ago!
If you have any questions related to her Alice in Wonderland first birthday party, don’t hesitate to ask! Happy party planning!

So adorable! Where did you find the little Alice dress?!
Hi Jenna!
You can find the Alice dress here! 🙂
Absolutely precious! What did you do for invitations?
This is amazing! What main food did you serve other than the dessert table? Trying to organize an Alice in Onederland theme party for my daughter. Thank you!!
