The holiday season is here at Walt Disney World and this year, Animal Kingdom is joining in on the fun! Disney invited me out to see all that Animal Kingdom has to offer for the holidays, and I’m so excited to share that with you!
Thank you to Disney for inviting me to experience the holidays at Animal Kingdom! Rest assured, everything I share here is honest and my own opinion. 🙂
Holiday Decorations at Animal Kingdom
One of my favorite things about how Disney is approaching the holiday season at Animal Kingdom is the decorations! Each land of Animal Kingdom is decorated differently and the decorations have been so beautifully curated that it feels like they truly belong in that area!
You’ll find a really great variety of holiday decor at Animal Kingdom!
As you enter the park, you’ll find a HUGE tree decorated with twinkling lights, natural ornaments, and hidden mickeys! There are lots of familiar characters surrounding the tree too!
Discovery Island is overflowing with holiday cheer! From life-sized puppets exploring near the Tree of Life, to nature-inspired garlands and glowing lanterns; this area of Animal Kingdom truly has never been more beautiful.
DinoLand USA is still featuring Donald’s Dino Bash, but with a holiday twist! You’ll find twinkling light displays all throughout this area, kids will LOVE this.
Africa features recycled materials turned holiday decorations. Bike wheels, bottle caps, and more create really beautiful and unique decorations.
Asia is feeling festive too with it’s glowing lanterns, bright colors, and beautiful flowers to celebrate Diwali.
Even Pandora is celebrating! At Pongu Pongu, you’ll find fun decorations from the expats working on Pandora.
Theres also a really beautiful new mural wall that features the Tree of Life and the adorable handcrafted puppets as you head from Discovery Island to Pandora! You won’t want to miss this!
Festive Character Meets at Animal Kingdom
If your kids are anything like mine, they LOVE meeting characters at Walt Disney World! There are an abundance of fun character meet and greets at Animal Kingdom and now some of our favorites are rocking festive additions to their outfits!

Holiday Treats at Animal Kingdom
Walt Disney World has created SO MANY INCREDIBLE holiday treats this year! And Animal Kingdom most definitely was not forgotten.
You can find festive treats like peppermint soft-serve ice cream in Asia, peppermint bark churro and double chocolate peppermint ice cream sandwich in DinoLand USA, and even a pumpkin cheesecake mousse in Pandora!
I tried the double chocolate peppermint ice cream sandwich on my last visit and it was INCREDIBLE. I highly recommend trying this treat!
Special Holiday Entertainment at Animal Kingdom
The holidays at Animal Kingdom feature really beautiful entertainment that your family will LOVE
The handcrafted, life-size puppets and Tree of Life Awakening on Discovery Island are seriously BEAUTIFUL.
You’ll find the puppets roaming the area in front of the Tree of Life throughout the day and the Tree of Life Awakening, which is a beautiful projection show, starts at 6:05pm and is continuous throughout the evening.
Don’t miss these! I watched the Tree of Life Awakening for a good 30 minutes, it was visually so beautiful.
Animal Kingdom most definitely should be on your list of parks to visit this winter! It was very special to experience Animal Kingdom’s holiday decorations for the very first time and its exciting that all four parks are in the holiday spirit this year!
Thanks again to Disney for inviting me to experience the new holiday offerings at Animal Kingdom!
