Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2018 Recap

My preschooler and I ventured to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party last Friday and had such an amazing time! The party did not sell-out and I really think the lower crowd levels played into why we were able to do so much even though we left around 10pm! Let’s jump into the fun we had at the party!

We arrived at Magic Kingdom around 1:30 pm. If you do not have a park ticket, you can arrive with just your party ticket as early as 4pm (or as early as 2pm if you’re a DVC member).

Before the party began, we watched the Festival of Fantasy parade, rode Dumbo, the Barnstormer, Small World, Peter Pan, and Teacups. We also met Anastasia and Drizella (a first for Our Daughter!).

After our rides, we enjoyed a candy corn ice cream cone from Auntie Gravity’s, a cake pop from Big Top Treats, and I used mobile ordering for our dinner from Pecos (we shared the fajita platter).

We picked up our party wristbands and trick-or-treat bags at the Fantasyland distribution area at 4pm. If you’re already in the park, there’s no need to go back to the main entrance for your wristband. You can grab it at one of the locations inside of the park! Just keep an eye out for signs and cast members dressed in their Halloween gear.

Once we were done with dinner, I changed Our Daughter into her halloween costume and swapped my shirt for something more festive as well.

We then enjoyed a ride on Aladdin’s carpets. It was just about 6:00 so after our magic carpet ride, we ventured towards the Tiki room to get in-line for the Moana meet-and-greet. After walking into the queue, we literally waited about 5 minutes and walked right up to Moana! Although the party starts at 7, Moana was already greeting guests at 6!

After meeting Moana, we headed back across the park to line up for Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore in their adorable costumes. We waited about 10 minutes in line before the characters arrived at 6:30! We saw them a few minutes later and then decided to head over to see Vampirina at the Storybook Circus Disney Jr Jam.

Before dancing with Vampirina, I noticed the line for Donald and Daisy in their Halloween costumes as very short, and it was almost 7. So we hopped in line and saw Donald and Daisy a few minutes later! By 7 pm we had already completed 3 character meet-and-greets (with 7 total characters)! Our Daughter was thrilled, and so was I!

After dancing with Vampirina and Doc at the dance party, we decided to walk-thru the nearby trick-or-treat location since the queue was empty, and then we waited about 15 minutes to see Minnie in her witch costume.

After Minnie, we decided to visit the Seven Dwarves! The line here was VERY short, we waited about 10 minutes.

I wanted to make sure we saw the 8:35pm Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular show, so we headed towards the castle and decided to say hi to Elvis Stitch on the way!

We arrived to the castle about 10 minutes before the show started and were able to get a great spot right up by the rope where the path to the right of the castle inclines. Highly recommend this spot! Since we were on an incline we didn’t have any heads in our view!

I changed Our Daughter into her pajamas and we enjoyed the show! I absolutely loved it! And so did my 3 year old! This show is a must in my opinion!

Our Daughter was beginning to show signs of being tired (it was way past her bedtime at this point), so we stopped at another trick-or-treat spot before heading to meet Lotso.

After Lotso, we walked our way to the front of the park to grab a spot for the Boo-To-You parade. We didn’t have any issues grabbing a spot about 10 minutes before the parade made it to where we were seated. We both really enjoyed the parade! I think Our Daughter could have lasted for the fireworks but I also was starting to get tired so at that point we called it a (FUN and SUCCESSFUL) night!

We were able to meet so many characters, enjoy some trick-or-treating, watch the show and the parade all before 10pm. A total win in my book! Now I’m even more excited for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party!
