I was so excited that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returned to Walt Disney World this year!
My kids absolutely loved this event when they last offered it in 2019 and I cannot wait to enjoy it again with them later this month!
I experienced one of the first nights of the party so that I could gather information to share for you and I’ve finally sat down long enough after a long month of travel to get this written!
I’ve included the party guide map in case it’s helpful! Now, let’s jump in! 🙂
General Tips for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
The Halloween Party is held at Magic Kingdom on select nights. The party begins at 7pm and ends at midnight.
You must purchase party tickets to attend this event. You can purchase event tickets right here.
If you are at Magic Kingdom on a party night and do not have a party ticket, the park will close for you at 6pm.
One of the biggest things to remember is that even though the party kicks off at 7pm, you can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4pm with your party ticket!! You don’t need to make any park pass reservations for the party.
When you enter the Magic Kingdom for the party, you’ll want to use the turnstiles that are designated for the Special Event. Once you scan in, you’ll receive your party wristband and treat bag.
However, if you are already in the park at 4pm as a regular day-ticket guest, you do NOT have to exit and re-enter the park for your party wristband and trick-or-treat bag.
Instead, visit one of the party distribution areas throughout the park where you can check-in and pick up your party essentials by scanning your event ticket.
In general, the day of your Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party makes a great resort day. Enjoy the pool, relax, grab a quick nap, schedule a character breakfast, visit Disney Springs, etc and then arrive at the Magic Kingdom for 4pm entry!
Also remember that PhotoPass is included with your event ticket! So definitely take advantage! All of the characters will have a PhotoPass photographer available.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Character Meets
There are a ton of characters available at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!
I highly recommend deciding ahead of time which character meet and greets are top priority for you especially if you’d like to do one (or more) of the popular characters I’ve listed below.
** One thing I want to note here, the majority of characters will sign autographs at the party! 🙂 Jack and Sally, however, do not sign. Instead you’ll get a fun postcard with their signatures.
Jack and Sally
Jack and Sally are the most popular characters at the party. It’s not uncommon for the duo to have a queue that takes 2-3 hours (and even longer on peak party nights).
The good news though is that you can actually meet Jack and Sally before the party even starts!!
Jack and Sally begin greeting guests at 4:30pm in the Town Square Theatre.
Knock this out first and you’ll already be off to a great start!
*One thing to note, if you’re spending the day at Magic Kingdom before the party starts, make sure you check-in and get your party wristband at 4pm before hopping in this line.
The cast members will be verifying that you have a wristband for this meet and greet and if you haven’t picked it up yet, you won’t be able to stay in the line.
Pooh and Friends
The next most popular character meet and greet after Jack and Sally will be Pooh and Friends in their cute Halloween costumes.
This is a really great character meet because you get to meet 4 characters at once: Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore.
This meet and greet begins at 6:30 pm right next to Pooh’s attraction. I would recommend lining up early for this one if you’re able to.
Elvis Stitch
Over in Tomorrowland between Space Ranger Spin and the Carousel of Progress you’ll find Stitch greeting in his Elvis costume!
This meet-and-greet is also quite popular and will have long lines early in the night. If this is an absolute must for you, I’d prioritize this early.
Otherwise you’ll want to check towards the end of the night when other entertainment is happening (like the parade of fireworks) to see how the line is looking.
Minnie, Donald & Daisy
In Storybook Circus you’ll find Minnie, Donald and Daisy greeting inside of what’s typically the Dumbo play area.
This line moved very slowly for us even though it didn’t actually look very long. I think this character meet would be a great one to check at the end of the night because I have a feeling the line will be very short then.
Whatever time you attempt this one — it’s worth the wait in my opinion! I love seeing the classic characters in their fun Halloween costumes.
Other Characters Meet-and-Greets Available at the Party
- Fantasyland
- Anastasia & Drizella
- Alice & the Mad Hatter
- Queen of Hearts
- Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum
- Ariel & Prince Eric
- Belle & Gaston
- Storybook Circus
- Goofy
- Adventureland
- Genie & Jasmine
- Abu & Aladdin
- Jafar
- Jack Sparrow
- Town Square Theatre
- Mickey Mouse
In general if you pass by a character greet and it has a short line, definitely hop in it! We stumbled upon a few like that and they were great breaks from the longer lines we had already done.
You also will see additional characters in the parade, stage shows, dance parties, etc!
Special Entertainment
Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade
I am such a big fan of the Boo-To-You Parade! It is loaded with characters, fun songs and festive floats!
The parade follows the typical parade route and starts in Frontierland right next to Splash Mountain and works it’s way to the front of the park through Liberty Square, past the Castle and Hub, and down Main Street where it finished with a loop around Town Square.
There are two parades each night at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary. The first parade is at 9:15pm and the second at 11:15pm. It takes about 20 minutes or so for the parade to make it’s way from Frontierland to Main Street.
Typically I would say you could catch the parade anywhere along the parade route but that’s not what I want to recommend this year.
There’s a super cute pre-parade dance party with Powerline Max and that ONLY happens on the Main Street and Town Square portion of the parade route. If watching/participating in this is important to you — make sure you are at the end of the parade route!
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
Just like the Boo-To-You Parade, this is another party must-watch!
You’ll see so many of the Villains you know and love alongside the Sanderson Sisters on stage for this one!
Fortunately there are multiple showtimes each evening during the party so you can pick the one that works best for you!
Showtimes
- August and September 2022
- 8:35 PM, 10:45 PM, midnight
- October 2022
- 7:40 PM, 8:35 PM, 10:45 PM, midnight
If you can make it work, try and watch the latest one possible. The earliest shows always draw the largest crowds.
Plus the midnight show is like an added bonus because all of the party offerings will have ended at that time so you’re not picking and choosing what you should skip in order to watch the show!
I recommend you stand close to the castle for this one so you have a great view!
Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular
This is the firework and projection show for the party!
On party nights there isn’t a showing of Enchantment — just this one — so keep that in mind if you’re hoping to view Enchantment during your vacation and weren’t planning another Magic Kingdom park day.
A spot on Main Street or near the Hub is great for this! You want to be able to see both the fireworks and the projections to fully experience the show.
Dance Parties
In addition to the above scheduled entertainment offerings, there are also dance parties throughout the park!
You’ll find Disney Junior characters at the Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jam.
Mike Wazowski and Sulley will be dancing in Tomorrowland at the Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball.
And new for this year, the Zombies, Cheerleaders, Werewolves and Aliens will be dancing in Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe at the Zom-Beatz Bash.
These dance parties are continuous from 7pm – midnight so pop in when you pass by!
Trick or Treat Locations
Trick or Treating at the parties is always a highlight for my kids!
You’ll find lots of Trick-or-Treat spots throughout the park — just look for these orange inflatable location markers.
Allergy-Friendly Options
If you have a food allergy, see a Cast Member to pick up a teal-colored treat bag. When you trick-or-treat with your teal bag, you’ll receive a teal token at the treat stations.
After collecting your tokens, you can visit the Allergy-Friendly Centers for your special treats!
My best tip for trick or treating is to save it for the second half of the night. The lines will be extremely short and the cast members typically load up bags at this time to get rid of all the candy they have!
Attractions
We’ve already discussed so many fun offerings at the party and we haven’t even gotten to the attractions list yet!
There will be so many rides available for you during the party. The majority are the same rides you’d experience during the day time — the plus though is that the lines will be super short!!
There are a few attractions that get Halloween Party overlays:
- Mad Tea Party
- Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor
- Space Mountain
- Pirates of the Caribbean
If you only did one of these, make it Pirates of the Caribbean. They’ve added real pirates to both the queue and the attraction! I thought this was a really wonderful addition.
I did ride Space Mountain during the party and it definitely was not for me. I am not a huge Space Mountain fan (at Walt Disney World) in general and the complete darkness with loud music made me feel extremely anxious. I couldn’t wait for the ride to end!! Keep that in mind before you bring your kiddos on.
Other Available Attractions
- Adventureland

- Pirates of the Caribbean

I hope this post is helpful if you have an upcoming visit to Walt Disney World for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! 🙂 You’re going to have an absolutely amazing night!
Remember that you can dress in costume if you wanted! Check the weather though — you may be more comfortable in a festive t-shirt. I have lots of fun Halloween shirts and other things linked here in this post.
Follow along on all of our Walt Disney World fun on Instagram @brbgoingtodisney! I share tips and tricks LIVE from the parks each week on Stories! See you there!
Incredible info as usual! Thanks so much for sharing, I love that you added the picture of the map too, that’s soooo helpful to truly feel like I can plan ahead and know exactly what to expect.
Thank you Kristen! 🙂
Is there anything that is NOT open during MNSSHP that we should try to do before 6pm?
Not all attractions will be open — like Carousel of Progress, Enchanted Tiki Room, Country Bears, etc! So if you wanted to watch any of those shows, watch them before the park switches over!
Such a great overview! We will be there on Halloween and for sure want to make the most of it!
Thanks for all the info. Such a good summary. Ready to see all the things. 🎃 👻
