One of my personal favorite resorts at Walt Disney World is the Wilderness Lodge! The perfect location combined with the fantastic theming, great pools (my kids LOVE this one), and stand-out dining options, make this resort a win-win in my book!
The Wilderness Lodge is a Deluxe resort located near the Magic Kingdom (just a short boat ride away!). It’s home to multiple dining options, including one of our favorite character dining restaurants — Storybook Dining at Artist Point!
The theming is exactly what you would expect, very lodgy with lots of dark wood and fun details like totem poles, waterfalls, a geyser, and so much more!
The lobby is really grand and beautiful! Even if you’re not staying here, this would be a great resort to explore on a non-park day!
Let’s take a look inside a room at the Wilderness Lodge!
Upon entering your room, you’ll have a small hall-like area with your coffee station, mini fridge, and closet directly across from the bathroom.
The bathroom is split-style with the shower, tub, and toilet in a separate room from the vanity and sinks.
My daughter loved the cute characters on the shower tiles!
The vanity area is large and features two separate sinks.
We actually parked our stroller in this spot each evening, you could definitely fit a pack n play in this opening too.
The main area of the room had two queen size beds separated by a small nightstand.
Across from the beds was the desk area and the media center that doubles as your dresser.
Even though we were in a Standard room, we still had a great balcony view!
My kiddos love the theming at this resort as well as the amazing pool and kid’s water play area! They also enjoy roasting marshamallows at the evening campfire!
You could also take the boat over to the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds to explore and enjoy the Chip n Dale Campfire Singalong — this is SO MUCH FUN! And it’s totally free to enjoy!
If you’re considering a Deluxe resort for your next Walt Disney World vacation, definitely add the Wilderness Lodge to your contenders list! Even though it’s not on the monorail line, it still is very close to Magic Kingdom and super convenient to get there! Transportation to the other parks is readily available too!
You’ll LOVE your stay at Walt Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge resort!
Hoping for a reservation for Storybook Dining to open up for our trip in August!
Crossing my fingers for you! It’s an absolute favorite of ours! Check frequently the week prior, night before and morning of!
One of my favorite magical moments happened at the Wilderness Lodge. We sat outside eating the quick service breakfast and little bunnies would hop around in the shade. It was a really great surprise before even hitting the parks.
How sweet is that?! Our Daughter LOVES bunnies, she would have been on cloud 9!
Thanks for this recap it’s so helpful! We’re considering staying here for our next trip but worried about the inconvenience of not being on the monorail (especially since we have strollers). Do you know if you need to fold up your stroller for the boat or can you just roll on?
Hi Erin, you’re so welcome! You would need to fold your stroller. I know what you mean about convenience, have you considered the Contemporary or renting DVC points for Bay Lake Tower? Ultimate convenience since you can walk or take the monorail to Magic Kingdom! I have a Bay Lake Tower post, we stayed there in January and LOVED it! Nothing beats having Magic Kingdom in your backyard!
Thanks for the reply! I really couldn’t find anything online about the wilderness boats so this is super helpful since thats such an important factor for us. We ended up deciding on the Contemporary! So excited!
Our DVC home resort! Can’t wait for our first welcome home visit! Excited to check out kids water area!
The kids water area is a favorite in this house!!
Just booked us here for our trip in November! I came to read your review because I panicked a little upgrading and spending so much money on a resort! Thank you for easing my mind!
I learn something new about every day.
