My Favorite Walt Disney World Resorts

One question I am asked quite often is what’s MY personal favorite Walt Disney World resort. This question is always so difficult for me to answer because I have lots of favorites depending on who’s traveling with me, if we’re looking for something budget friendly or if we’re using our Disney Vacation Club points and want to splurge, etc!

So I thought I’d share one favorite resort from each of the price-levels that Walt Disney World offers (Deluxe, Moderate, and Value).

My Favorite Value Resort

This favorite actually changed for me recently! We used to love staying in the Art of Animation family suites when our kids were very young (it was nice to have a separate sleeping space for the toddler and the baby). However, these rooms are quite expensive if you don’t truly need the separate bedroom.

Need the extra space? See an Art of Animation family suite tour here!

Now that our kids are out of the infant stage, we can all share one sleeping space without issue. My favorite Value resort currently is Pop Century.

Not only are the rooms at Pop Century newly renovated, but Pop Century is also on the Skyliner route!

The Skyliner is a SUPER convenient mode of transportation to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios that my whole family really enjoys!

Pop Century is the most affordable resort option on the Skyliner route. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for value, updated rooms, and convenience.

You can see a full Pop Century Resort Room Tour right here.

My Favorite Moderate Resort

When it comes to Moderate Resorts at Walt Disney World, my favorites would be the two Port Orleans resorts! You can’t go wrong with either Port Orleans Riverside or Port Orleans French Quarter.

Port Orleans Riverside offers a great feature pool and playground area. You can also rent bicycles, boats, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride, go fishing, and more!

Both resorts feature fantastic pools and playgrounds. My kids especially love the water play area at French Quarter!

Both resorts offer boat transportation to Disney Springs and bus transportation to the parks.

You also can take the bus or boat between the two resorts (or walking is an option, too!).

If I had to choose one resort over the other, I’d choose Port Orleans Riverside — specifically the Royal Rooms! See a full Royal Room tour here.

My Favorite Deluxe Resort

There are SO MANY amazing Deluxe Resorts at Walt Disney World (as they all should be, because you sure are paying a Deluxe price-tag to stay at them!). Of all the Deluxe Resorts, the Wilderness Lodge is my personal favorite.

I absolutely love the theming of the Wilderness Lodge! The lobby is beautiful and the outdoor grounds make you feel like you’re actually vacationing at a lodge in the mountains somewhere!

The pools are fantastic and the water play area is one of my kid’s favorites on property.

The Wilderness Lodge is also just a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom (which may not seem as convenient as the Monorail but it definitely is!) You don’t even have to fold your stroller on the large boat! You also can take a boat ride to the Contemporary Resort or the Campgrounds!

We recently rented a golf cart to explore the campsite decorations at Christmas and had THE BEST time! Highly recommend this if you’re traveling during the holidays!

I hope this overview of my favorite Walt Disney World resort at each price point is helpful! 🙂 Definitely check out the individual room tours for more photos!

    • I’m not a fan of Caribbean Beach. Its so big and spread out and the rooms are just okay. Also not a fan of All Star Music or All Star Sports.

  3. I would love to take my girls to the princess rooms at Riverside, but I worry the resort buses would have long waits or fill up at the first bus stop since it’s so big? Do you know how the buses are there? Thanks!

  6. How long is the ride from Art of Animation to the parks, I know each is in different location. Just roughly how long for the bus/van and the skyliner?
