There are so many little things that you can do to ensure your trip to Disney World is as magical as can be. From saving money on food and water to avoiding the busiest parks each day, read my 7 tips below to ensure you have the best time ever on your vacation.

Pay attention to park hours and extra magic hours each day

The park offering the morning Extra Magic Hours is going to be the most crowded. You either are going to have to arrive prior to the early opening and embrace the hoards of resort guests who are also taking advantage of this perk, or you can go somewhere else altogether! Visiting the morning Extra Magic Hour park later in the evening after all of the morning guests have left is also a wise move.

character dining on the disney dining plan at walt disney world

If using a Disney Dining Plan, book character dining for the most bang for your buck

if you’ve purchased a Disney Dining Plan that includes a table service meal, make sure you use that meal wisely! I highly recommend using that meal credit for dinner at a character dining restaurant. These are the most expensive out of pocket meaning you’re getting the most out of your dining plan. Plus, the character interactions are fantastic for everyone in the family!

Buy your tickets in advance of your trip

By purchasing your tickets in advance of your trip, you’ll be able to book your Fastpass+ selections ahead of time! 60 days before your trip if you’re staying at a Disney Resort or 30 days before your trip otherwise. You will have a MUCH better Fastpass selection 30/60 days prior vs. same day. You also will not have to waste any time at the ticket window when you arrive at the park!

Order grocery delivery to your resort to save money on food and snacks

If you’re staying on property and won’t have your own vehicle, I highly recommend ordering groceries to be delivered right to your resort. Not only will you save money on food and snacks at the park, you’ll also be able to order some of the necessities that are nice to have in your room, like bottled water. There are many options for grocery delivery and prices will be much less than if purchased on property.

rider switch walt disney world

If you have little ones, use rider switch

If you have kids that are too little to enjoy a certain ride, utilize rider switch to save time and allow ALL the adults in your party to ride! Here’s how it works, everyone waits in line together, when you get to the front of the line let the cast member know you’ll be using rider switch. They’ll hand you a pass (good for 2 guests) and once the first group finishes, the second group gets to ride without waiting in line!

Download the My Disney Experience App

The My Disney Experience app not only allows you to book Fastpasses on the fly, it also allows for dining reservations, reviewing ride wait times, park hours, nearby restaurants and menu, park maps, your plans for the day, etc! Basically, this app makes your life easier. This is a MUST HAVE app for a Disney vacation!

Don’t pay for bottled water

Bottled water at the parks is expensive. We like to bring in a refillable bottle or two to use while at the park. All of the counter service restaurants (and some carts as well) offer free cups of ice water. All you have to do is ask! We pour the cups right into our bottles and we have FREE water! Make sure your refillable bottle of choice has a cap so that you can bring it on rides with you.
